Request for donations

We greatly appreciate your cooperation with the World Natural Heritage Site Yakushima’s Mountain Environmental Conservation Donation program. The purpose of this fund-raising program is for the conservation of the mountain’s environment and to assure user safety by maintaining the trails and the facilities in the mountains.

In order to protect the natural environment of the mountains in Yakushima, Yakushima Mountain Environmental Management Council (YMEMC) is running the Yakushima’s mountain fund-raising campaign. Carrying out of the waste from mountain outhouses, promotion of disposal toilets utilization, maintaining several mountain climbing routes, and operation for Arakawa route traffic regulations are some of their projects. Donations received will be used for these activities related to the conservation of the mountain’s environment. All donations will be greatly appreciated.   
We would like to ask for donation of at least 1,000 yen per person to cover coast in keeping Yakushima safe and enjoyable for all. Donations from companies or any organizations are welcome. 
Yakushima’s environmental conservation activities are supported by these donations and by people who care for Yakushima’s nature.

Donations can be made at tourist information centers in Miyanoura, Anbo, Yakushima Airport, or Yakushima Mountain Environmental Management Council office in front of the Yakusugi Museum when purchasing your Arakawa Mountain Bus ticket.
