Yumugi Hot Spring
Yumugi Hot Spring is located on Kuchinoerabujima Island, about 35 minutes by car from Honmura Port. It is a carefully maintained hot spring. Sediments of minerals called “yunohana,” hot spring flowers, dance in the water and are considered good for your health. Relax and indulge yourself.
Nemachi Hot Spring
Nemachi Hot Spring is located on Kuchinoerabujima Island, about 25 minutes by car from Honmura Port. The milky-white water of Nemachi Hot Spring is said to have medicinal properties. Nemachi literally translated means “sleep and wait” which may have been taken from a proverb that says, “sleep and wait for good luck.”
Nishinoyu Hot Spring
Nishinoyu Hot Spring is located on Kuchinoerabujima Island, about 5 minutes by car or 25 minutes on foot from Honmura Port. During high tide the hot spring water flows out from the bottom of the pool. Being close to Honmura Village, many islanders frequent the hot spring.
Honmura Hot Spring
Honmura Hot Spring is located on Kuchinoerabujima Island, about 5 minutes on foot from Honmura Port. Opened in July of 2008, it is a simple hot spring rich in iron making the water slightly brown. It is said to have recuperative properties. You can enjoy a great view of Mt. Shin, an active volcano, and a beautiful sunset over the ocean.
Yudomari Hot Spring
Yudomari Hot Spring is located in the Yudomari area by the seashore, about 70 minutes by car from the airport. It is open 24 hours. It is an outdoor hot spring where you can hear the ocean waves and see sunsets over the ocean. The hot spring has a male and female bathing area separated by a bamboo screen. Wearing any items of clothing while bathing is prohibited. There are no changing rooms. The water temperature is around 38 degree Celsius. It is a simple sulfur hot spring and is said to be good for rheumatism, and neuralgia. For use of the hot spring, please put a small donation, about 100 yen, in the box at the entrance.
Hirauchi Hot Ocean Spring
Hirauchi Ocean Hot Spring is located in the Hirauchi area by the seashore, about 65 minutes by car from the airport. It is a rare ocean hot spring only accessible for a couple of hours before and after low tide. You may need to check the local low tide times. There are two unisex rock-bathing pools with no changing rooms. Wearing any items of clothing while bathing is prohibited. The water temperature is around 45 degree Celsius. It is a simple sulfur hot spring and is said to be good for rheumatism, and neuralgia. For use of the hot spring, please put a small donation, about 100 yen, in the box at the entrance.
Onoaida Hot Spring
Onoaida Hot Spring is located in Onaida, about 60 minutes by car from the airport. There is a quaint story passed down through many generations about this hot spring. About 350 years ago, a giant deer after having been shot by local hunter eased its wound in the hot spring. The hot spring was built by the local residents and is used daily. The hot spring water flows out of the bottom of the bathing pool at a temperature of 49 degrees Celsius, a little hot. It is a simple sulfur hot spring and is said to be good for rheumatism, and neuralgia. Also there is an area outside the hot spring building where you can soak your tired feet in the warm hot spring water. It is very popular with tourists after a hike or mountain climb.
Kusagawa Hot Spring
Kusugawa Hot Spring is located in Yunokawa about one kilometer up in the mountains from Kusugawa Village, about 20 minutes by car from the airport. It is a simple alkaline hot spring. The temperature is a little low so it is heated. It is popular among the local residents as a therapeutic bath. It is said to be good for rheumatism, neuralgia, skin infections, and cuts and grazes. You can soothe your fatigue in the bath while listening to the Yunokawa River nearby. It is also a good place to communicate with the local people. The bathing pool can accommodate around 10 people. If you are lucky, you may see a fantastic sight of fireflies glowing and flying along the river at night during May to June.
Yunokonoyu Hot Spring
Yunokonoyu Hot Spring is located near Shiratani Unsuikyo Ravine, about 30 minutes by car from the airport. To recreate the old spa of Yunoko, Yunokonoyu was opened in 2009 as a spa facility. The facility is only available by reservation. It is advised to make a reservation by phone in advance. Visit the facility with your family or friends.
