Kusugawa Hot Spring is located 6 km northeast of Yakushima airport. It is a alkaline simple cold mineral spring. The temperature is a little low so it is heated. It is popular among the local residents as a therapeutic bath. It is said to be good for rheumatism, neuralgia, skin infections, and cuts and grazes. You can soothe your fatigue in the bath while listening to the Yunokawa River nearby. It is also a good place to communicate with the local people. The bathing pool can accommodate around 10 people. If you are lucky, you may see a fantastic sight of fireflies glowing and flying along the river at night during May to June.
