Pon-tan kan is located along the prefectural road between Hara and Mugio Village, about 24 minutes (18.6 km) from Yakushima Airport by car. “Pontan kan” is named after the Yakushima’s most well- known special products, ponkan and tankan orange. There is a recognizable orange-shaped huge signboard in front of Pontan-kan. The shop focuses on local agricultural produce and its processed goods. Many of Yakushima’s products such as “Ponkan” and “Tankan” (citrus fruits), juice, ice cream, and sweets made by the local residents can be purchased. If you plan to visit Torohki Waterfall on the opposite side of the prefectural road, this shops parking lot is available.
