Yakushima’s Disaster Preparedness Handbook with Hazard Map has been translated into English and will be available on our website starting in April 2023. The purpose of preparing an English version was to relieve any worries for foreign residents and visitors, as well as making it possible for all to cooperate in an emergency situation.
The Hazard Map contains information necessary for your safe evacuation, such as tsunami inundation zones, potential landslide disasters, local emergency shelters, etc. In addition, the Disaster Preparedness Handbook provides information about various disasters, types and levels of warnings, evacuation actions to be taken, etc.
Not only for us Japanese but also for foreign residents and visitors this information will be extremely helpful.
We hope that this English version will enlighten you and help you if a disaster occurs.
